Urban Decay Naked Palette Holiday Look

I love the Urban Decay Naked Palette. The looks you can do with it are endless!

Happy Holidays everybody! I went to my husband’s Christmas party at the Lowry Park Zoo. I had a blast. I decided I wanted to do a kind of smokey eye so I pulled out my Urban Decay Naked Palette. I haven’t gotten the Naked Palette 2 or the Naked Basic Palette, because I absolutely love the first one. In my eyes it can do no wrong. I loved the way the look turned out. I mean I was beat honey! Start singing Michael Jackson’s PYT in your head. I felt pretty darn good. The photos did not do the look justice.

I also loved the way my hair came out. A couple of hours before the party started I put my hair in twists using creme of nature argan oil foaming wrap lotion. I hope you all enjoy the look.

I Have Lost My Discipline

Discipline about BloggingI really must apologize. I have not been blogging much on either one of my blogs. I feel like I have lost the discipline, and passion. Don’t get me wrong I love both of my blogs, but the gumption to post has been null and void. I am not sure what is going on but I want that old thing back. I need my spark. I lost the fun. Anyway I am going to get back in the spirit of blogging, because I really do enjoy it. Life just has a way of catching you and making you forget how important the little things are. I thought I wanted something new, but I realize all I really needed to do was improve what was already there. I will be working on a few things on this site so expect some changes. I hope you all will stick with me as I go through whatever it is I am going through. I have not even been wearing makeup or looking at beauty blogs. Have any of you ever gone through phases while blogging?

Missing Makeup4play like Crazy I’m Coming Back

I have been missing MAKEUP4PLAY. This blog is my baby, and I do not think that I can completey just let her go. RubiesnFlair is doing well, and I think I am to a point where I can maintain both blogs. I will keep Makeup4Play a makeup and beauty blog, and use RubiesnFlair for other things that I am interested in. For those of you who have multiple blogs do you have any tips on how you maintain them?

RubiesnFlair

I made my first post on RubiesnFlair .  I hope that you all will continue to support me on this new blogging venture.

Neo Trice

Hey all!

I hope everything is going great in your lives. I have not been blogging as much as lately. I just have not been inspired lately. I love makeup, but I have not been wearing or purchasing it lately. I have a stye on my eye and until it goes away I can’t wear any eye makeup. It sucks monkey nuts. I have a booty on my eye lol. It has improved, but it is refusing to completely go away.  I am also trying to save money so I have not indulged much in buying new things.

I have been giving it a lot of thought, and I feel that I need a new start. So many things in my life have changed, and I have grown from them. One thing that I have realized in blogging on Makeup4play is that I really have not given my all in the blog, and that includes showing who I really am. I have been a shell of myself, and I am ready for a new start.I thought moving my blog, and self-hosting would give me more motivation, but it did not help.  I have faced the fact that I have outgrown Makeup4play. I want to talk about other things besides makeup. I know I could just blog about other things on here, but I want to start fresh. I have decided to start another blog.  I have already purchased my domain, and am in the process of getting everything together. The new blog is called RubiesnFlair. I chose that name because I am a Cancer, and the Ruby is my birthstone. Everybody needs a little flair in their life. This blog will be more personal, and will include all kinds of topics. I am really excited.

All of this feels kind of bittersweet. I started the blog in 2008, and have really enjoyed it. It is hard when you realize that you have outgrown something, but progress requires change. I won’t be shutting the blog down, and who knows I may decide to run two blogs later down the line. I am excited about RubiesnFlair, and I hope that you all will come with me on this new journey. I will keep you all updated on when the blog will be up and running.

If you follow me on twitter I will still use the @makeup4play account. Please follow me on @RubiesnFlair as well. I really appreciate you all.

I’m Back

Allow me to reintroduce myself!

The switch to WordPress was successful. I still have a few kinks to work out, but I am back to my regularly scheduled program. If anybody has any feedback on using wordpress I would definitely appreciate the advice. Look forward to some awesome posts.

BHM: June Jordan

One of my favorite poets.

June Jordan (1936 – 2002) was a poet, activist, journalist, essayist and teacher. Prolific and passionate, she was an influential voice who lived and wrote on the frontlines of American poetry, international political vision and human moral witness. The author of many award-winning books, she traveled widely to read her poems and to proclaim a vision of liberation for all people. Dynamic, rebellious, and courageous, June Jordan was, and still is, a lyrical catalyst for change.

Born in Harlem in 1936, Jordan was the child of West Indian immigrant parents, who raised her in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, where she began writing poetry at the age of seven. In her teens, she attended the Northfield School for Girls in Massachusetts, and in 1953 enrolled at Barnard College, where she would earn her B.A. She was married in 1955, and divorced after having one child.

Jordan was active in the civil rights, feminist, antiwar and gay and lesbian rights movements, even as she became known as a writer. In 1967, after running poetry workshops for children in Harlem, Jordan began her teaching career at the City College of New York. She taught at Yale University and Sarah Lawrence College, and became a professor of English at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she directed The Poetry Center. In 1988, she was appointed professor of African-American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she founded the influential poetry program Poetry For the People.

June Jordan was the author of more than twenty-five major works of poetry, fiction and essays, as well as numerous children’s books. Jordan wrote the librettos for the operas Bang Bang Uber Alles with music by Adrienne Torf, and I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky, with music by John Adams; she wrote lyrics frequently for other musicians, as well as plays and musicals. Her journalism was published widely in magazines and newspapers around the world, and she was a regular columnist for The Progressive. An electrifying speaker, Jordan collected many of her most influential speeches and addresses in her books of essays.

Jordan earned numerous honors and awards, including a 1969-1970 Rockefeller grant for creative writing, a Yaddo residency (1979), a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship (1982) and the Achievement Award for International Reporting from the National Association of Black Journalists (1984). Jordan also won the Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest Writers Award (1995-1998), the Ground Breakers-Dream Makers Award from The Woman’s Foundation (1994), the Chancellor’s Distinguished Lectureship from the University of California at Berkeley, the PEN Center USA West Freedom to Write Award (1991) and a congressional citation for her outstanding contributions to literature, the progressive movement and the civil rights movement.

Valentines Day Look

Here is the look that I wore on Valentines Day. I had a great day with the hubby. I ordered the Sigma face and eye brush set, and used them for the first time. OMG these brushes are incredible. I would recommend them to anybody. Some of these brushes are even better than the Mac ones. I may order another set. The hubby got me some items from the Spring Color Forcast collection. Awhh he knows what I like. I didn’t get a chance to take pictures of the items. I was sad they were all sold out of the peach blush ombre, but I did score the vintage grape ombre. Hope you enjoy the look

Shrinkage

I hate the fact that natural hair shrinks, but I must embrace it. I love my natural hair but shrinkage really sucks.
